ALDG Appoints Seasoned Energy Executive, John Kadiri as Executive Secretary

The Association of Local Distributors of Gas is pleased to announce the appointment of John Kadiri as its Executive Secretary with effect from the 1st of February 2026. John is the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Alpha Maxvalue Energy and Renewables Limited. He brings deep commercial and financial experience with a strong blend of technical and regulatory compliance exposure to the role.

He has over thirty years of industry experience spanning construction, academia, business advisory, energy, which includes twenty-one years with Agip Energy and Natural Resources and the Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited.

During his time at Shell, he held several leadership positions, most notably as Commercial Manager for the Gas, Power, and Shared Infrastructure businesses. In this role, he oversaw operations and transactions with annual revenues exceeding USD 2 billion while managing multiple stakeholders and contingent liabilities.

John brings end-to-end knowledge and experience across the oil and gas value chain, including licensing, project development, financing, negotiations, business development and marketing, pricing, stakeholder management, regulatory compliance, operations, dispute resolution, acquisitions, and divestments.

Beyond his corporate responsibilities, he has contributed significantly to the development of Nigeria’s energy sector and the wider West African sub-region. He has actively participated in industry advocacy and development through the Oil Producers Trade Section (OPTS), the Council of the Nigerian Gas Association, and various Federal Government ministerial committees on West African power and gas supply. He also supported the development of the Nigerian Gas Association’s learning solutions training series, serving for several years as a speaker on the Fundamentals of Natural Gas Value Chain Contracts & Finance course.

In recognition of his contributions to the industry, he received the Nigerian Gas Association Special Recognition Award for Dedication and Professionalism at the 2023 Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES).


John holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Accounting and an MBA. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria, the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria, and the Institute of Management Consultants of Nigeria. He is also an Associate of the Nigerian Institute of Management, a Certified Management Consultant (CMC), and a member of the Association of International Energy Negotiators, the Nigerian Gas Association, and the Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators.

Speaking on his appointment, John Kadiri said:

“I am honoured to be appointed to serve as Executive Secretary of the Association of Local Distributors of Gas at such a pivotal time for the industry. I look forward to working collaboratively with our members and key stakeholders to deepen our advocacy efforts, strengthen policy engagement, and advance sustainable growth across the gas value chain.”

Also commenting on the appointment, Kehinde Alabi, Chairman of the Governing Board and Managing Director, Axxela Gas Distribution, said:

“John brings a strong blend of commercial insight, technical depth, and industry experience that aligns closely with the Association’s strategic priorities. We are confident that his leadership will enhance stakeholder engagement and support the continued growth and development of Nigeria’s downstream gas sector.”

John Kadiri succeeds Oga Adejo-Ogiri, the founding Executive Secretary of the Association, who stewarded its affairs and positioned the ALDG to be recognised as a key stakeholder in the Nigerian Gas sector.
