A delegation from the Association of Local Distributors of Gas (ALDG), led by its Executive Secretary, John Kadiri, participated in the Portland Gas Limited Stakeholders’ Workshop as part of ongoing engagement around the company’s proposed Mini LNG/L-CNG station project in Gwagwalada, Abuja.

Held on 26 February at the Nordic Hotel in Abuja, the workshop convened investors, financiers, and key stakeholders to discuss the facility’s viability and broader issues related to gas sourcing, integration for industrial users, and other sector priorities.

The event hosted the Executive Vice President, Power, Gas and New Energy, Mr Olalekan Ogunleye, who was represented by the Manager, Business Development, Mr Kachalla Suleiman. The Chairman of the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), Mr Olaniyi Yusuf, delivered a keynote address titled “CNG as a National Opportunity: From Pilot Projects to Mass Adoption” to the audience.

The proposed Portland Gas facility is expected to be completed within 16 months (approximately mid-2027). Once operational, the station will serve as a key CNG supply hub for the North Central region, helping to reduce dependence on diesel while supporting the industrial, commercial, and transport energy needs of businesses.

ALDG remains committed to helping stakeholders better understand policies around local gas distribution, while advocating initiatives that support the safe, efficient, and sustainable distribution of natural gas across Nigeria.

We wish Portland Gas Limited continued success as it advances this important investment and contributes to strengthening Nigeria’s domestic gas infrastructure.
