The Association of Local Distributors of Gas (ALDG), led by its Executive Secretary, John Kadiri, paid a courtesy visit to Barr. Ismaeel Ahmed, Executive Chairman of the Presidential Initiative on Compressed Natural Gas and Electric Vehicles (Pi-CNG & EV), reaffirming the Association’s commitment to supporting the Federal Government’s drive towards a cleaner, gas-powered economy.
The Pi-CNG & EV Programme has emerged as one of Nigeria’s most significant energy transition initiatives following the removal of the fuel subsidy. To date, the programme has facilitated the conversion of over 100,000 vehicles, supported the establishment of 337+ certified conversion centres, 62+ refuelling stations, and deployed the country’s first government-backed electric bus fleet.
As the umbrella body representing local gas distributors, ALDG is closely aligned with the objectives of the Presidential Initiative. Its membership comprises natural gas distributors who utilise pipelines, operators of LNG and CNG mother and daughter stations distributing gas through virtual pipelines, gas infrastructure service providers, and gas traders, making the Association a critical stakeholder in expanding access to natural gas across Nigeria.
During the meeting, the Executive Secretary highlighted the indispensable role of ALDG and its members in enabling the infrastructure, supply, and distribution networks required to drive the widespread availability and adoption of CNG nationwide.

He also reaffirmed the Association’s readiness to collaborate with the Pi-CNG & EV Programme in advancing its objectives of increasing cleaner fuel utilisation and accelerating Nigeria’s transition to a more sustainable energy future. The Executive Secretary further briefed the Chairman on the Association’s recent activities and strategic priorities.
In response, Barr. Ismaeel Ahmed shared updates on the Initiative’s ongoing programmes and future direction, while expressing his commitment to working closely with ALDG and other key stakeholders to deepen gas adoption across the country.
The visit also provided an opportunity for the ALDG delegation to present the Chairman with a copy of the latest edition of Downstream Gas Magazine, recently launched at the Association’s Business Forum. The team also congratulated him on his first anniversary in office and commended the significant milestones recorded by the Initiative within the past year.
ALDG remains committed to supporting collaborative initiatives that strengthen Nigeria’s domestic gas ecosystem, improve access to cleaner energy, and advance the country’s Decade of Gas objectives.
